Fentress architects hosted a competition world-wide to see what students envisioned for the future of airports. The competition had few guidelines allowing for a wide range of interpretations. This specific entry takes place in Rio de Janeiro and shows two terminals where the terminal located on the left embraces a neo-futurism design. The other would hypothetically be constructed years later when technology has made it possible to board planes in a ‘drive-thru’ fashion.

Future Aircraft

It’s necessary to envision what aircraft would look like in the future and as architects the scope of design can sometimes extend past the realm of architecture. Below is an illustration showing an all glass cabin airplane where passengers can view skylines from all over the world.

Fentress architects hosted a competition world-wide to see what students envisioned for the future of airports. the competition had few guidelines allowing for a wide range of interpretations. This specific entry takes place in rio de janeiro and shows two terminals where the terminal located on the left embraces a organic design. The other would hypothetically be constructed years later when technology has made it possible to board planes in a ‘drive-thru’ fashion. Both designs reflect the exotic geometries of the wildlife located within the depths of Brazil's jungles.
